Farmer Producer
Organizations (FPOs) have emerged as an important institutional mechanism for
improving the socio-economic conditions of small and marginal farmers through
collective action, enhanced market access, and improved bargaining power. The
present study examines the impact of the Nallabelli Farmers Producer Company
Limited on farmers' income and marketing efficiency in Telangana. The study is
based on both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from 60
randomly selected member farmers out of 350 active members of the FPO through a
structured interview schedule. Secondary data were obtained from government
reports, NABARD publications, SFAC reports, journals, and other relevant
sources. The findings reveal that the majority of the respondents are small and
marginal farmers with considerable farming experience. The FPO has
significantly improved access to quality inputs, institutional credit,
insurance, training, and market information. A large proportion of respondents
reported improvements in yield, cropping intensity, gross income, net income,
marketable surplus, and price realization after joining the FPO. However, the
members continue to face challenges such as inadequate working capital, poor
infrastructure, lack of storage facilities, price fluctuations, low awareness,
and limited digital literacy. The study concludes that FPOs play a crucial role
in enhancing farmers' income and marketing efficiency. Strengthening financial
support, infrastructure facilities, technology adoption, and institutional
linkages would further improve the effectiveness and sustainability of FPOs.
